DEPARTMENTS & ROLES

for easier-to-find information regarding specific job roles I've had and range of experience
SOUND

I have experience with the Sound No.1/No.2/No.3 roles as well as small temporary installs.

  • No.3, last in 2016 on Bugsy Malone with 36 radio mics

  • No.2, Legally Blonde in 2016 (15 radio mics) and Aladdin (panto) in 2017 (plus guitar and bass tuning duties)

  • Small temporary installs include shows at The Wynd Centre, Paisley for 'Dancing with the Devil' and 'The Provy Wummin'' - setting up hired P.A equipment and then operating the show

I have worked on many shows of varying scales as a No.1. From solely operating QLab (files built myself), to operating QLab with radio mics (anything from 2-10), but also operating a large number of radio mics on their own (16 mics for 'Matilda' in May 2023). I am most comfortable with the No.1 position in 250-300 cap venues, however I have done a 700 cap (seated) venue too.

During my time working within the music industry (from 2015-2018 mostly), I had many job roles including Drum Tech, Monitor Engineer, FOH Engineer and general roadie with occasional (light) Guitar Tech duties.

STAGE MANAGEMENT

I have different levels of experience with each of the main stage management roles (ASM, SM, DSM, CSM)

  • ASM, for a show in college which included prop making and Sister Act at Curve Leicester in 2016

  • SM, for a stage (9 bands per day) at HRH Metal festival in 2018, Panto in 2021 was an SM role minus any prop duties, 'Bend it like Bertie' at various theatres and 'The Journey Back' in 2023 and touring in 2024 at the SEC Armadillo (3,000 capacity)

  • DSM, when touring as the sole tech on a small-scale tour, if I didn't operate everything myself then I would have to call the cues for any additional tech, I also worked a youth theatre show in May 2023 as a DSM/show caller

  • CSM, for some of the smaller scale touring when I was the tour driver and only tech with the cast such as 'The Ghosting of Rabbie Burns' and 'Two's Company' in 2022

I have also done a lot of general stage crew work, being a part of a team as well as leading one on set builds and changeover crew for bands at festivals (Rockingham 2017).

In March 2025, I stage/set designed 'Three the Musical'

I have experience with marking up scripts, creating scene sheets and other stage manager documents such as risk assessments and show reports

LIGHTING

As a lighting tech, I have spent a lot of time rigging and focusing, cabling and patching, some PAT testing and lamp changes and other general maintenance.

  • Small scale designing for shows such as 'The Ghosting of Rabbie Burns' 2022, 'Pretty as Pink' 2023 and 'Vertical Dreamscape' at Reyjavik Fringe Festival 2023

  • Intermediate level programming, mostly on ETC software

  • LX Op for many Fringe shows throughout the years (2018-Present), Panto in 2018, 2019, half of 2022 run and 2023

  • Relighting on small scale tours as the sole tech; refocusing and programming myself or programming in the preferred operating method for the tech (when possible)

In March 2025, I lighting designed 'Three the Musical'

Other things include small scale installs (The Wynd Centre, Paisley, along with the P.A) and Followspot Op (Ladyboys of Bangkok 2019 and 'The Dolls' 2022)

EVERYTHING ELSE
  • QLab programmer (intermediate level) for sound and video cues from basic files to more complicated, cue-heavy show files

  • Tour driver for small scale touring, LWB/Luton van size, with set and/or cast and crew

  • Production photographer, mostly with live performances from bands, but also for 'Game Over' (2017) and 'The Journey Back' (2023) and 'Gold!' (2024)

  • Headshot photographer for 'Stand Out Theatre School' for the production of Legally Blonde Jr (June 2024)

  • Poster-making for events/shows

  • Production manager and in charge of hiring/sorting tech for shows, specifically 'The Journey Back'

If a role I have shown interest in hasn't been listed or described here, I feel I will have at least had the previous experience needed from my achievements so far to cover the essential criteria of the role, so just ask me about it!

I love to learn new things so if you're willing to give a chance to a hard-working individual that enjoys working in all aspects of the tech world then consider me.
